Product Overview
Sleep three in the space of one with this great space-saving Triple Bunk Bed plan!
Triple Bunk Bed Plans showing how to build a triple bunk that holds three twin size mattresses. The woodworking plan explains everything from how to pick out the lumber you need, cut it, sand it, drill it, apply finish to it and put together a beautiful wooden bunk bed that is extremely solid and sturdy. We have built MANY of these beds ourselves and offer free support when you need it. The woodworking plan comes with a hardware store-ready quick, shopping list so that you can head right out and purchase the materials you need to get started. This triple bunk bed plan makes use of widely available easy to obtain off-the-shelf lumber and materials. You can build a triple bunk bed with little or no experience in woodworking. All that you need are a circular saw, an electric drill, a sander (preferably a power one) and a few bits. This plan tells you how to build a triple bunk bed that is amazingly strong and looks great. Kids will love the ladder ends. It is easy to get in and out of and despite its height it is VERY SAFE, meeting all of the CPSC safety standards. Besides that, it is a great family project or a first woodworking project. This triple bunk plan is a favorite in camps and institutions.
This particular bunk bed plan covers construction of the triple bunk bed with variations in the ladder end to meet any need depending on whether it is being used for kids or grownups or both. The finished triple bunk bed measures 75 inches tall, by 42" wide, by 81" long and has sleeping space for three in a room with 8 foot ceilings. The greatest asset it has is that three people sleep using the floor space of only one. The headroom space in each bunk is approximately as follows: upper bunk mattress to ceiling 28 - 29", middle bunk mattress to bunkie board on top bunk 20 - 21", lower bunk 18 - 19" (*please note that we do not recommend the use of very thick mattresses with any bunk bed). We have many-many satisfied customers who have built these triple bunks and have been using them for years. Many of the beds we have manufactured have been in daily use in hotels, camps, shelters and other institutions for 17 years or more, supporting adult weight and still look great.
We have a hardware kit available that contains all of the metal hardware needed to complete the triple bunk bed. It has special black plated lag screws and furniture-grade wood screws. These are all priced at about the same price that you can get the alternate hardware locally and we include free shipping. (*Please note that no lumber is included in the hardware kit.*) Free shipping on hardware kits pertains to all 50 United States (others write for details). Great value!
